Travis Hiett

Travis started with the USGS as a student sediment lab assistant in the Salinas Field Office in 1996.  After graduation, he became a full-time field hydrologic technician in the Marina, CA field office. He then transferred to the Sacramento Field Office in 2002.  As a hydrologic technician with the Sacramento Field Office, Travis operated the Hetch Hetchy and Yosemite Valley sites for many years, as well as many sites in the Sierra foothills and San Joaquin Valley.  Travis became chief of the Sacramento Field Office in 2023.  He has extensive surface water experience including all forms of discharge measurements, water quality, station levels, gage construction, records computation, and rating development.
