Pennsylvania Hydrologic Trends Dashboard
September 14, 2026
This dashboard was created by the U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) in cooperation with the Pennsylvania Department of Conservation and Natural Resources (PA DCNR), Bureau of Geological Survey, to display long-term trends in streamflow, baseflow, runoff, and baseflow index (BFI) at select streamgages across Pennsylvania.
Baseflow, runoff, and BFI time series were calculated from daily streamflow records using hydrograph-separation methods (Donmoyer and others, 2023). A trend analysis was then applied to the resulting streamflow, baseflow, runoff, and BFI metrics (Donmoyer and others, 2024). This dashboard displays annual and seasonal (spring, summer, fall, and winter) trends over two periods of analysis, 1979–2022 and 2000–2022.

The U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) in cooperation with the Pennsylvania Department of Conservation and Natural Resources, Bureau of Geological Survey, estimated groundwater recharge by automated streamflow-hydrograph methods for watersheds throughout Pennsylvania. These data serve as an update to previous estimates of groundwater recharge described in Risser and others (2005). The current...
