Integrated Interpretation of International Mineral Resource Assessment Data
We will publish reports and interpretive papers on existing data from USGS internal mineral resource assessment collaborative work.
Science Issue and Relevance
Mineral resource assessments identify the global potential for undiscovered mineral deposits. The U.S. is currently focused on critical mineral commodities that are largely imported and at risk of supply disruption. Locating and understanding the geologic and tectonic environments of these critical commodities helps secure America’s key supply chains and support clean energy technologies.
USGS has been funded to collect and interpret geophysical, geochemical, and mineralogical data for assessments in Mauritania (World Bank and US-AID), Algeria (Algerian government), Uzbekistan and Botswana (State Department). Goals of these projects included:

Creation and integration of new and existing multidisciplinary data to be used in focused mineral resource assessments,

Providing training in the collection and interpretation of multidisciplinary geoscience data and the use of data in mineral resource assessments of critical elements as part of capacity-building efforts.
Accessible journal articles have not been written on the existing data USGS compiled. Publications may extend the audience of explorationists and researchers and help spur exploration and economic development.
