National Atmospheric Deposition Program National Trends Network
The National Atmospheric Deposition Program (NADP) is a 40-year old organization of federal, state, local, academic, tribal, and private entities who support operation of 5 national monitoring networks. Kentucky and Indiana operate 3 National Trends Network (NTN) sites as part of the National Atmospheric Deposition Program (NADP). Monitoring for NTN is consistent, standardized, high quality, documented, and freely available on the internet.
The National Atmospheric Deposition Program (NADP) is a 40-year old organization of federal, state, local, academic, tribal, and private entities who support operation of 5 national monitoring networks using uniform equipment, protocols, and a central laboratory. The NADP National Trends Network (NTN) has ~250 sites to measure inorganic precipitation chemistry in weekly composite samples to track deposition of acid rain constituents. USGS supports laboratory and field costs for more than half of the NADP NTN sites, some in cooperation with other agencies
IN-KY Water Science Center operates 3 NTN sites:
- IN20 Roush/Salamonie Lake, Huntington IN (in operation for 33 yrs): Data from NTN
- KY19 Cannons Lane, Jefferson County, KY ( in operation for13 yrs): Data from NTN
- KY35 Clark State Fish Hatchery, Rowan County, KY (in operation for 33 yrs): Data from NTN
Precipitation is collected in an automated precipitation collector. Contents from the collector are collected by us then shipped to the NTN.
