Mapping Challenges Updates January 2023

Excellent work and a huge thank you to all our super-duper mapping challenge participants! We’ve closed two challenges since our October newsletter and are currently running one big challenge to update over 1,000 no-edit-history fire station points in WA and OR.

Fire Stations with No Edit History in WA and OR

We are currently only running one challenge to update all those no-edit-history fire station points in Washington and Oregon. There are over 1400 of these points to check, so depending on fast folks can tackle these, we’ll likely be letting this challenge run for a while. Check out the link above for tips and tricks on editing fire stations, and the newsletter article titled Yellow Points with No Edit History?? (July 2021) for more on where these points are located and how to identify them.

PR Ambulances and GA Cemeteries Complete

Our super-duper volunteers tackled a huge number of cemetery points in Georgia, and then just kept trucking to add a previously non-existent but crucial layer of ambulance data to the Puerto Rico map! Those are some extra challenging features to research, so we’re super grateful for all your contributions. And even though we’ve wrapped up the Puerto Rico ambulances and Georgia cemeteries challenges, remember that you’re always welcome to continue editing in those areas! A completed challenge doesn’t mean there isn’t any more work to be done, so if you stumble on a missing ambulance station in Puerto Rico or an incorrectly named cemetery in Georgia, go ahead make those edits!
