We’re reviving an old and near-and-dear-to-our-hearts tradition of soliciting bios from TNMCorps volunteers who have reached significant editing milestones and earned either the Theodolite Assemblage or Squadron of Biplane Spectators recognition badges! TNMCorps wouldn’t be what it is without the hard work of our dedicated volunteers, so we hope you enjoy hearing from your fellow contributors!

“Hello! My name is Jessica, and I'm excited to have reached the Theodolite Assemblage milestone. Thank you for featuring me in this newsletter!
“Last fall, I was looking for volunteer work related to geosciences when I found out about The National Map Corps. Since I'm interested in geospatial data and mapping, I thought it was a great opportunity to contribute to open geographic data in a flexible, remote way.
“One of my favorite parts of volunteering is developing a closer and more tangible sense of how communities across the United States are changing over time and seeing how those differences are reflected in the editing itself from one session to another. Some areas have experienced rapid growth, with many schools and other structures still missing from the map, making the work largely focused on researching and adding new points. In contrast, other areas have changed very little over the years, so the work is mostly focused on verifying and updating existing points.
“Even though some structure points are easier to verify using authoritative sources than others, it is always rewarding to review locations that have never been edited or haven't been reviewed in eight or more years.
“The feedback from the maintainers and the opportunity to take on additional roles have made this experience enjoyable and engaging. I'm happy to be part of such a welcoming volunteer community and look forward to continuing to contribute through TNMCorps.
“In my free time, I also enjoy hiking, learning languages, and baking.”
