Behavioral response of crayfish to light and the effects on trapping success, laboratory and pond trials, Missouri 2022-2023
February 9, 2026
Data were collected in association with the application of visible light in laboratory and field settings to elicit behavioral responses from the invasive virile crayfish (Faxonius virilis). Data for laboratory light trials include water temperature, dissolved oxygen, and conductivity, crayfish sex, weight and size, light lux, proportion of time spent in each zone (lit versus unlit), total distance moved, mean velocity, and acceleration. Data for pond trials include crayfish sex and size, and count of crayfish captured by lit and baited traps.
