Camera trap data across East Riverside Development Focus Area, California, 2021

This data release is associated with a study examining the spatial ecology and behavior of three focal mammal species: kit fox (*Vulpes macrotis*), coyote (*Canis latrans*), and black-tailed jackrabbit (*Lepus californicus*) in the East Riverside Development Focus Area (ERDFA) in Riverside County, California. Camera-trap surveys were conducted between April and July 2021 at two undeveloped sites designated for future utility-scale solar energy development. The data release consists of 12 comma-separated value (CSV) files. These include one file containing camera-trap locations and operational dates; one detection-history file for each focal species; three detection-covariate files for sampling effort, flash-enabled sampling effort, and sampling occasion; four site-covariate files, including one with raw data and three with transformed data for the combined-sites, east, and west datasets; and one camera-trap detection-event file listing detection dates and times for the three focal species.
