Chesapeake Bay Land Use/Land Cover (LULC) Database 2024 Edition
The Chesapeake Bay Land Use/Land Cover (LULC) Database facilitates the characterization of the landscape over time for three discrete time periods at 1-meter spatial resolution. The database was developed by Chesapeake Conservancy (CC) in cooperation with the University of Vermont’s Spatial Analysis Laboratory and U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) as part of a 6-year Cooperative Agreement between Chesapeake Conservancy and the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and a separate Interagency Agreement between the USGS and EPA to provide geospatial support to the Chesapeake Bay Program Office.
The database is organized into four sections:
1. Land Use/Land Cover (LULC)
2. Land Use/Land Cover Change (LULCC)
3. Change matrices
4. Region, State, and County Summary Tables
The LULC, LULCC, and Change Matrices sections are organized by state and then county. Region, State, and County Summary Tables are organized into LULC summaries and LULCC summaries. For more information about the products and their organization, download the User Guide on this page. Visualization layers (ArcGIS and QGIS) for the LULC and LULCC raster products are attached to this page.
