LA-ICP-MS U-Pb Geochronology Data for Igneous Rocks Constraining the Timing of the Great Lakes tectonic zone, central Upper Peninsula, Michigan, USA

March 14, 2025
This U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) data release accompanies planned publication ‘New constraints on location and timing of the Great Lakes tectonic zone, central Upper Peninsula, Michigan, USA. The data release includes laser ablation inductively coupled plasma mass spectrometry (LA-ICP-MS) U-Pb zircon data and/or U-Pb apatite data for two samples from the Upper Peninsula, Michigan, USA. The samples were analyzed to (1) constrain timing of the Great Lakes Tectonic Zone, Upper Peninsula, Michigan, USA, and (2) provide evidence that the magmatism related to the Sacred Heart orogeny, previously known and constrained to Minnesota, extends to Michigan. These samples are part of a larger characterization of the age and source of Archean basement terranes in the United States.
