Modeled and observed daily streamflow and streamflow nonexceedance-probability time series at selected reference basins in the conterminous United States, water years 1984-2016
This data release contains observed and seven sets of modeled daily streamflow time series and their corresponding nonexceedance time series for water years 1984 to 2016, at 1,114 streamgages in 19 study regions (Falcone, 2011) covering the conterminous United States (a water year is defined as the 12-month period October 1, for any given year, through September 30, of the following year, and is designated by the calendar year in which it ends). The streamgages were selected from GAGES-II reference streamgages (Falcone, 2011). The observed streamflow data are published U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) data; these and five sets of the modeled series predicted using statistical methods are from Russell and others (2020). The remaining two sets of modeled streamflow data are from the National Hydrologic Model Precipitation-Runoff Modeling System (NHM-PRMS) model (“by headwater” and “by observation” calibrations; Hay and LaFontaine, 2020). This data release also includes the basin characteristics for the basins monitored by the selected streamgages, of which some were taken from GAGES-II data (Falcone, 2011) and the remainder were computed.
