Photopigment data representing microphytobenthos and other supporting data collected from Ship Shoal, Louisiana from 2021 and 2022

August 27, 2026

Seasonal sediment samples were collected at sites on Ship Shoal, Louisiana to assess the microphytobenthic biomass and composition using photopigment analysis. A total of 29 photopigments including chlorophyll a and accessory pigments were evaluated from each of the sediment samples. Conductivity/temperature/depth (CTD) casts were performed for water quality assessment. A sensor suite on the CTD collected bottom water salinity, temperature, and dissolved oxygen for each cast at each site. Sediment organic matter samples were collected from the top 1 cm of sediment.
