Radiogenic strontium isotope data for non-native walleye otoliths collected from select areas of the Upper Colorado River Basin

October 28, 2019

This dataset includes radiogenic strontium isotope compositions of non-native walleye otoliths collected from select areas of the Upper Colorado River Basin (UCRB). Strontium isotope data have been widely used to assess natal areas for a variety of fish species. Following on previous work, this project sought to fill data gaps for walleye collected from the Colorado River (river miles 11-109.3), the lower Green River, Lake Powell, and McPhee Reservoir. Using laser ablation-multicollector-inductively coupled plasma-mass spectrometry (MC-ICP-MS), otolith strontium isotope compositions were measured just outside of the sulcus and on the periphery of the most recent annual growth layer. These data potentially provide information on natal origin (sulcus) and recent residency (most recent annual growth layer). There are two files in this dataset: 1) A comma delimited machine-readable file (*.csv) that represents the data dictionary, and 2) a comma delimited machine-readable file (*.csv) containing the data.
