Sea-floor sediment and imagery data collected in Long Island Sound, Connecticut and New York, during LISMaRC-USGS survey 2023-008-FA

These data were collected to characterize the sea floor by identifying sediment texture and benthic habitats in Long Island Sound. This dataset contains the locations and grain-size analysis results of surficial sediments collected with a modified Van Veen grab sampler on the SEABed Observation and Sampling System (SEABOSS 2.0). Eighty-nine sediment samples were acquired at 91 sampling locations covering the 2023-008-FA survey area. Data were acquired using the SEABOSS 2.0 system deployed from the R/V Connecticut. This effort is part of the Long Island Sound Mapping and Research Collaborative (LISMaRC) Phase 4B project to characterize sea-floor habitats.
