At-site flood frequency estimates for 261 Kentucky streamgages using data through water year 2021
This data release archives files associated with a Kentucky flood-frequency analysis using annual peak-flow data through water year 2021 (a water year is defined as the period from October 1 through September 30 and is designated by the calendar year in which it ends). The analysis was completed using PeakFQ (version 8.1.0; Siefken and others, 2024; for full citation see the attached metadata), which implements the methods described in England and others (2018; Bulletin 17C).The analysis included 250 streamgages with unregulated peak-flow records and 38 streamgages with regulated peak-flow records; of these, 27 streamgages contributed both regulated and unregulated periods of record and therefore were analyzed serperatly for each condition.
This page provides two files. The file titled “SummaryTable.txt” is a tab-delimited text file that lists the USGS streamgages analyzed in this study, along with selected site and basin characteristics and selected flood-frequency results. The file “Parent_KY_Meta.xml” is the associated metadata describing the contents of “SummaryTable.txt.”
This page also links to two child items, “At-site flood frequency estimates for 250 unregulated Kentucky streamgages using data through water year 2021” and “At-site flood frequency estimates for 38 Kentucky regulated streamgages using data through water year 2021", which provide additional details and supporting files for the respective analyses.
