September 3, 2025
Stream-like habitats in abandoned mine areas of New River Gorge National Park and Preserve were surveyed for stream salamanders in fall 2024. Methods included visual encounter surveys of transects up to 25m within stream-like mine water discharges in the Nuttallburg, Fayette Station, Hawks Nest Connector, and New River Gorge Bridge areas of the park. All stream salamander species encountered are included in the dataset.
