Supplementary Data Release for Development of Liquefaction-Targeted Design Basis for U.S. Seismic Provisions

July 9, 2026

These data are supplementary to the journal article:

Makdisi, A.J., Kramer, S.L., Bassal, P., Maurer, B.W., Perkins, W., Anderson, D., Crouse, C.B., Dashti, S., and Teague, D. (2026) "Development of Liquefaction-Targeted Design Basis in U.S. Seismic Provisions". Earthquake Spectra. https://doi.org/10.1002/esp4.70097.

This dataset includes tabular data summarizing effective 50-year non-exceedance probabilities of liquefaction factor of safety (FSL) using current ASCE 7-22 design parameters across a range of soil, site, and liquefaction modeling conditions, for 160 test locations throughout the conterminous United States. Proposed liquefaction-targeted Maximum Considered Earthquake (MCEL) peak ground acceleration (PGAL) values, corresponding to a 2.5% in 50-year probability of liquefaction triggering, are also provided for the 160 test locations for Site Classes C, CD, D, DE, and E. Current ASCE 7-22 MCEG peak ground acceleration (PGAM) values are provided for these same locations and site classes for the purposes of comparison. Metadata for each test location (e.g., region, coordinates, population, seismic hazard levels) are also provided.
