Diagnostic case-level data recorded by the USGS National Wildlife Health Center (NWHC) in their Laboratory Information Management system (LIMs) and wildlife health information sharing partnership event reporting system (WHISPers). The LIMs database tracks carcass and tissue submissions to the NWHC laboratories, test results, and ultimate cause of death as determined through forensic pathology for individual animals or tissues. The WHISPers database tracks reported morbidity and mortality (m/m) events, defined as one or more animals found dead linked in time and space, around the United States, reported by NWHC partners. 9,488 diagnostic cases submitted between January 1st, 2000 and December 31st, 2021 are included in this dataset.
