Vertical Land Motion Global Navigation Satellite System Campaigns, Southeast Virginia, 2023

May 13, 2025

This data release contains the original campaign survey files in Receiver Independent Exchange Format (RINEX) and summaries of the survey results for 9 vertical control points in the Hampton Roads region of southeastern Virginia. In this 2023 survey campaign, a subset of 9 the original 24 benchmarks were occupied with Global Navigation Satellite System (GNSS) antennas and receivers as part of 3 simultaneous observation groups, each containing 3 benchmarks. Field methods were modified from previous campaigns to emphasize longer, multiple day observations and repeat observations were performed at 1 benchmark from each observation group.

Surveys were conducted during the winter season at a data collection interval of 30-seconds or less. Raw GPS survey files were downloaded and converted to RINEX v2.11 and post processed using the National Geodetic Survey's Online User Positioning Service Projects v5.2.0 software package following guidance and best practices. Positional results including ellipsoid heights and horizontal coordinates are referenced to the International Terrestrial Reference Frame 2014 (ITRF2014) at the epoch effective at the time of the observation.
