Water Inundation Dataset from Synthetic Aperture Radar (SAR): Jim Foot Key, FL
March 11, 2025
This dataset is derived from Synthetic Aperture Radar (SAR) data collected between July 2022-December 2024 and focuses on water inundation patterns on Jim Foot Key, located within Florida Bay. The dataset includes 13 TIFF files at 0.5 meter-3 meter horizontal resolution, that have undergone preprocessing and water thresholding methods to identify areas of inundation. These analyses were coupled with field data, high-resolution optical imagery, as well as precipitation and tidal records, to validate the results and understand how seasonal factors and weather patterns influence the outputs. This dataset supports the development of a reliable workflow for remote monitoring of coastal inundation and can be adapted for similar coastal environments.
