Whole rock geochemical data for ore and host rock for select iron oxide-apatite and iron oxide-copper-gold deposits found in the Basin and Range province of California, Nevada, and Utah collected 2023-2024
This data release encompasses whole rock geochemical data determined on iron ore and host rock samples collected in California, Nevada, and Utah from March 2023 through June 2024. Whole rock geochemistry was conducted on 269 samples. Major element oxides were determined by borate fusion and wavelength dispersion X-ray fluorescence; 61 elements were determined by sodium peroxide fusion and a combination of inductively coupled plasma optical emission spectrometry and inductively coupled plasma mass spectrometry; and low-level gold, palladium, and platinum were determined by lead fusion fire assay and inductively coupled plasma optical emission spectrometry. On select samples, total chloride and fluoride were determined by sodium hydroxide/potassium nitrate and ion selective electrode analysis, and total carbon and sulfur were determined by combustion and infrared detection.
