Butterflies and moths are submitted to the KS WSC for the Lepidoptera Research Collection Citizen Science Project. Julie Dietze holds a sphinx moth received from Texas.

A pilot project runs from April 20, 2023-November 1, 2023 where USGS has asked citizens to mail in already deceased butterflies and moths. The specimens received will be added to a USGS Scientific Collection database.
