Water Resources Mission Area Data Management Plan Template

Every research project funded or managed by the USGS must include a project data management plan (DMP) prior to initiation of the project, ideally at the resource planning phase to ensure that the project budget and staffing include data management activities.  This template contains the minimum USGS and WMA documentation requirements, provides a consistent structure and will help principal investigators meet the Survey Manual Fundamental Science Practice requirements. The template should be used by researchers in Water Science Centers if the Center does not have a DMP template containing the minimum elements outlined in Survey Manual Fundamental Science Practices (SM 502.6, Section 4) and on the USGS Data Management webpage.
