Detailed Description
USGS Fish Biologist Aaron Heisey and EESC colleagues enter the east flume in the Conte Lab's Fish Passage Complex after the conclusion of a study trial to recover adult white suckers. This study compares two fish ladders (novel D-cylinder on left, Denil on right) by measuring the performance of live fish through video and telemetry in one of USGS' largest ecohydraulics laboratories. The D-Cylinder fish ladder is being studied as a more efficient, multi-species, replacement for the aging and ubiquitous Denil fishway.
