Alex Baecher

Alex is an applied interdisciplinary quantitative ecologist, broadly interested in the processes that produce and maintain biodiversity. As a CAP fellow, Alex is developing novel integrated population models to predict how migratory birds will shift their ranges in response to climate change across the western USA. While trained as a herpetologist in the southeastern USA, Alex’s research in species redistribution has covered systems from elevational shifts in Appalachian salamanders to disease transmission via host-vector range shifts. He holds a PhD in Interdisciplinary Ecology from the University of Florida, a MS in Biology from Eastern Kentucky University, and a BS in Biology from University Arkansas. Alex is also passionate about hiking, biking, canoeing, wood working, and home DIY projects.
