Borehole-Geophysical Log Suite Collected from a Deep Test Borehole
Detailed Description
Borehole-Geophysical Log Suite Collected from a Deep Test Borehole at Queens, New York: The figure above shows a borehole-geophysical log suite collected by the USGS from test well Q-3655 in May, 1989 a deep test boring located near the western boundary of John F. Kennedy International Airport in Queens, NY. The calculated EM conductivity log clearly delineates saltwater intrusion in the upper glacial, Jameco, Magothy, and Lloyd aquifers. Using the USGS EM conductivity equation, estimated chloride concentrations of 20,000 mg/L in the Magothy aquifer and 15,000 mg/L in the Lloyd aquifer were calculated (Public domain).
