Close-up of loon chicks on back of parent

Detailed Description
Sleepy Common Loon chicks tucked under the parents wing. Note the glint of a colored leg band on the adult. Colored leg bands allow individuals to be resighted and identified without being recaptured. All banding and marking is being conducted under a federally authorized Bird Banding Permit issued by the U.S. Geological Survey’s BBL.
