The USGS Energy Resources Program studies the full life cycle of geologic energy resources. This is represented by the graphic. The Energy Resources Program studies the occurrence and extraction of resources (symbolized by the map and oil rig), the use of resources (indicated by the power line and car), and the disposal, impacts and recycling of resources (indicated by the mineral and ecosystem).
