EROS Fall Poster Session 2024

Posters from South Dakota State University and University of South Dakota college students and EROS staff members line the atrium November 13, 2024, for the Fall Poster Session at the USGS Earth Resources Observation and Science (EROS) Center. Hillson Ghimire’s poster is titled “Wheat Head Detection from Close-range Digital Imagery using Deep Learning.” The SDSU student described his research: “Right now we have a very good model that can detect wheat head spikes from close-range imagery (handheld cameras). The next step is to do wheat head detection from drone imagery, and then that will be used as ground truth data to train on satellite data.”
