Example of topographic change resulting from road construction in western Maryland. From left to right, the images are NED shaded relief, SRTM shaded relief, and Landsat image (color infrared rendition). This road cut through a prominent ridge, Sideling Hill, was made to accommodate Interstate 68. The area shown is about 5.0 km east-west by 9.5 km north-south.
