Detailed Description

Hummingbirds are important pollinators! They have long slender bills to sip nectar from flowers, and occasionally they pick up pollen unknowingly helping flowers reproduce by carrying it from plant to plant. Check out the white pollen on the top of this birds head and bill. This adult female Ruby-throated Hummingbird bird caught for banding and data collection under USGS bird banding permit.
