Fish necropsy during a smallmouth bass health assessment

A WVU master's student and USGS lab technician perform smallmouth bass necropsies for a health assessment in the Susquehanna River drainage.  These assessments are important to determine if and how environmental changes and/or contamination affect indicators of fish health.
