ANIMATED GIF: As of today, Sept. 25, it has been two months since water was first spotted at the bottom of Halema‘uma‘u, 600 m (about 2000 ft) below the rim of the crater. This animated image file (GIF) shows the growth of the pond between August 7 and September 24, 2019. USGS GIF by L. DeSmither.
