History of the SPCMSC Geologic Core and Sample Database

This infographic details the timeline of the USGS SPCMSC Geologic Core and Sample Database’s history and a snapshot of its contents. The USGS SPCMSC has been involved in research collecting coral, coral reef, limestone, and sediment cores and samples from around the world since the 1970s — over 50 years! The USGS SPCMSC recognized the importance and need to catalog and preserve all this information about the center's geologic materials. Thus, SPCMSC Geologic Core and Sample Database was established.
