Raw image (left) from holographic camera, showing diffraction patterns that look like ripples around particles in field of view. Preliminary processing of this image (right) reveals both straight and spring-shaped diatom chains, foraminifers, barnacles (growing on the lenses), and sediment particles. The spring-shaped diatom chains might be Chaetoceros sp.
