Leica BLK360 Scanner for Lidar Used by Interns in USGS EROS Research
Detailed Description
This is the Leica BLK360 Scanner, a terrestrial lidar scanner used for fieldwork during a USGS Earth Resources Observation and Science (EROS) Fire Science study this summer that included three interns. This image was taken in Black Hills National Forest. The researchers also spent time in Sequoia National Forest. Lidar stands for “light detection and ranging” and works similar to radar or sonar but with laser pulses.
