Measuring wetland macrophyte cover in northern prairie
Detailed Description
These lines of highly-productive Typha stems, persistent litter, and dense roots are found at Northern Prairie Wildlife Research Center (Jamestown, North Dakota). Scientists there are measuring biomass to assess how vegetation structure affects wetland carbon cycling. This data will be used to estimate primary productivity and decomposition rates, allowing us to better quantify regional carbon storage and emissions.
