Scanning electron microscopy with energy dispersive spectroscopy. a) back-scattered electron image of part of a cluster of fibers from Berthoud Pass snow, b) EDS spectrum of black matter in the fibrous cluster interpreted as tire matter on the basis of chemical composition.
