Mine shaft in Utah that the U.S. Department of Energy’s Defense-Related Uranium Mines program safeguarded with a bat grate. The closure prevents human entry and wildlife entrapment while preserving habitat for bats. Photograph by Environmental Protection Services (Nevada).
