Nantucket Sound Bathymetry

In collaboration with Massachusetts Coastal Zone Management Agency (MCZM), SFMG completed a geophysical survey (multibeam echosounder and chirp seismic survey) within Nantucket Sound to characterize the seafloor surface and subsurface. The effort extended coverage in Nantucket Sound along the southern shore of Upper Cape Cod between Mashpee and Hyannis north of Horseshoe Shoal. ​This work is part of a long-term collaboration, first initiated in 2003, between the USGS and MCZM to define the geologic framework of the seafloor within the Massachusetts coastal zone using high-resolution geophysical mapping, sediment samples, and seafloor photography.​
