Phantom Ranch Tour - mule train

This mule train is returning to the rim on the South Kaibab Trail. The daily traffic of the mule trains and hikers going to Phantom Ranch erodes the soft, red, clay-rich sediments of the Hermit Shale and Supai Group, especially in wet weather. Traill crews continuously maintain and repair the heavily used major trails in the park.
