Schematic depiction of coastal wave runup
Detailed Description
Schematic depiction of wave runup (hrunup) with its components of setup (hsetup) and time-varying swash (dashed lines). Wave runup is the time-varying elevation of water level at the shoreline, measured here in reference to the still-water level (SWL). As wave runup is based on wave action, this schematic depicts the resultant water level as a function of wave height (H) and beach slope (β).
