Surface Biology and Geology (SBG) mission illustration

The Surface Biology and Geology (SBG) mission is building a new thermal infrared (TIR) satellite in a collaboration between NASA and the Italian Space Agency. There are plans for a second SBG satellite with a visible to short wavelength infrared (VSWIR) spectrometer. The current plan is for data to be managed by the NASA Land Processes Distributed Active Archive Center, located at the USGS Earth Resources Observation and Science (EROS) Center.
