Tenebrionidae beetle, Little Stsimons Island, Georgia, face

Detailed Description

One of two beetles pictured from a collection of UV trap material from Little St. Simons Island on Coastal Georgia this past month. Potentially the start of a new monitoring program. I pulled these two out to take pictures simply because they were cool looking. Doug Yanega identified them as Tenebrionid beetles. Collected by Eric who is a naturalist on the Island. Note these are very small beetles and the pictures were taken with a 10x lens. Photography Information: Canon Mark II 5D, Zerene Stacker, Stackshot Sled, 200mm Pentax-m with Nikon 10X infinity microscope objective lens mounted on front , Twin Macro Flash in Styrofoam Cooler, F5.6, ISO 100, Shutter Speed 200.USGSBIML Photoshopping Technique: Note that we now have added using the burn tool at 50% opacity set to shadows to clean up the halos that bleed into the black background from "hot" color sections of the picture.
