Detailed Description

This is one special bee. We did a paper a few years ago and went through the 800 or so bees found east of the Mississippi River and looked for those that had not been found in the last 20 years. This was one of them! So Sabrie Breland collected this special bee in South Georgia near the border with Florida. interestingly, the few past records are all Deep South Records except for a series collected on one day in New Jersey in 1910 near Philadelphia by H. S. Harbeck. Could they still be there? Photography Information: Canon Mark II 5D, Zerene Stacker, Stackshot Sled, 65mm Canon MP-E 1-5X macro lens, Twin Macro Flash in Styrofoam Cooler, F5.0, ISO 100, Shutter Speed 200. USGSBIML Photoshopping Technique: Note that we now have added using the burn tool at 50% opacity set to shadows to clean up the halos that bleed into the black background from "hot" color sections of the picture.
