USGS EROS Interns Study Fire in Black Hills National Forest

Detailed Description
Intern Grace Parrott looks over the flags marking seedlings in a study plot in Black Hills National Forest. The USGS Earth Resources Observation and Science (EROS) Fire Science research she participated in compared time-consuming fieldwork to lidar scanning, which takes about 20 minutes per plot. In wild areas with plentiful wildflowers, interns had to take care to avoid bees.
