Water Quality sampling in Albuquerque, New Mexico

Detailed Description

On May 22-24, a team of QW samplers (Rob Henrion, Alana Jornigan and Joe Beman) collected ground water samples as part of the USGS National Water-Quality Assessment program (NAWQA) Enhanced Trend Network (ETN) activities.

The USGS National Water-Quality Assessment program is performing high-frequency data collection in New Mexico's Rincon Valley and 7 other areas across the U.S. to better characterize short-term and long-term variability in groundwater quality. In addition to providing information about how water quality is changing over time, the results are intended to help evaluate and predict how human and natural factors (such as land use and drought) affect water quality. Data collection from the 3 study wells in the Rincon Valley involves daily monitoring of field parameters (water temperature, specific conductance, pH, and dissolved oxygen), plus annual monitoring of a wide variety of water-quality characteristics through collection of groundwater samples for laboratory analysis.
