Biscuit Basin webcam

The camera view is north-northwest from the Biscuit Basin boardwalk looking at Black Diamond Pool, which is in the foreground (the tilted viewing angle is due to the slope of the boardwalk).  The cliff in the background is the Summit Lake rhyolite lava flow, which erupted about 111,000 years ago (well after the formation of Yellowstone Caldera about 631,000 years ago).  The installation is intended to track activity at Black Diamond Pool following the July 23, 2024, hydrothermal explosion, which ejected many of the rocks that are visible around the pool.  The available bandwidth is not sufficient to support live streaming, but video is being recorded on site.  If comparison of static images detects changes in the activity of the pool, video covering the time period of interest can be downloaded.
