USGS Western Ecological Research Center scientist Kevin Lafferty is part of a research team that studies the effectiveness of different treatments for schistosomiasis, a parasitic disease, in villages around the Senegal River, West Africa. Lafferty and co-authors published a research article describing the most effective means of controlling the disease. The study inspired a ten-minute segment on NPR's Science Friday.
