Astrogeology provided high-resolution mapping of the Apollo landing sites,  trained the astronauts to explore the lunar surface, and conducted equipment testing for both crewed and robotic missions. Since the Apollo days, we have been involved in almost every mission to a solid planetary body, doing cutting-edge research and providing the maps, images, and software to maximize the science return from those missions.

To learn more about our role in the Apollo Program, you can visit our Lunar Legacy page. The photographs and images featured there highlight our contributions and provide a new perspective on NASA’s Apollo Program and the wealth of scientific data those missions returned to Earth.
